Us plains hrw wheat bids steady
Kansas city (february 16, 2011) : hard red winter wheat basis bids in the us plains held steady tuesday with dealings picking up slightly amid noted domestic and export demand. slowed shipments of wheat for february contracts were resolving as weather improved and transportation problems eased.
texas agriculture officials reported late monday that winter wheat conditions in that state deteriorated. texas wheat as of sunday was rated 15 percent good to excellent, down from 19 percent a week earlier, while 58 percent of the crop was rated poor to very poor, up from 51 percent a week earlier.
kansas city board of trade hrw wheat futures ended higher on monday, with the march up 4 cents at $9.77 a bushel. drought in china's wheat areas has receded by 4 percent after irrigation efforts and snow at the weekend, with the area hit by severe drought cut by 11.6 percent, the agriculture ministry said on tuesday.
