Wheat arrivals pick up in Haryana

  • Chandigarh, Apr 26 (PTI) Total wheat arrivals in Haryana have crossed 46.47 lakh metric tonnes with the fresh arrival of over 4.32 lakh metric tonnes of wheat in various mandis of the state yesterday.

    While stating this here today, a spokesman of the State Food and Supplies Department said that over 46.46 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased by the six government procurement agencies at the minimum support price and 1,122 metric tonnes of wheat by traders.

    Over 15.98 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased by HAFED, over 12.05 lakh metric tonnes by the Food and Supplies Department, over 6.54 lakh metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India, over 4.47 lakh metric tonnes by Agro Industries, over 4.31 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and over 3.09 lakh metric tonnes by CONFED, he added.

    The spokesman said that Sirsa district was leading in terms of wheat arrivals, with over 5.50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat arriving in the mandis so far, followed by Kaithal, where over 5.11 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis.
